New year greetings

Thanks to everyone for making my 2011 a fantastic year. It has been a slightly better than average year with a lot of exciting and fun jobs.  Despite the Euro debt crisis, 2011 has turned out to be a record year for me. I have had the great pleasure to continue working on campaigns with my existing clients and even greater pleasure to also welcome some new really interesting clients, both Danish and international ones, in fun places like Holland, Norway and Finland.

It has been a great pleasure and challenge to work with image branding for big international clients, where I have been so lucky to be an active part in the whole process, from the first ideas to the planning of the shoot with location, models etc and the final shooting. The whole shoot is often a long process, before I actually get to my favorite part of the job-the shoot itself.

My time has not just been filled up with big commercial and fashion assignments; there has also been time to do a lot of editorial portraits and PR portraits of everyone from famous people to ordinary people. One of my greatest joys as a photographer is when I shoot a portrait.

Very often I have people showing up at my studio, suffering from camera phobia, but to see them walking out the door with a great big smile,  very grateful for finally receiving a really good portrait and good photographic experience, that is one of my favorite moments as a photographer.

Now a new year has started, and I am already very curious to see what that will bring.

So far I can look forward to a fashionable and cool January, with a nice trip to Berlin to practice my German and hopefully find time to finally see the Museum für Fotografie Helmut Newton Stiftung. Then some fashion shootings running up to the fashion fair in Copenhagen and the year is off to a good start.

I am looking forward to see all of you in 2012, and that all your wishes may come true.

Happy New Year!

Exploring Finland with Nordea

One of my biggest projects at the moment is to create Nordea’s new image library for the whole Scandinavia (For those of you outside of the Nordic region, Nordea Bank is the Nordic region’s leading and amongst the top ten in all of Europe). In September the project led me to Finland to capture the essence of three Finnish themes, family life, industrial companies and city life. So we went from the bustling metropolitan city of Helsinki, to the industry town of Sunila, home to a global paper factory,  and then finally ended with a shoot in the quintessential Finnish experience of a tranquil summerhouse located deep in a forest complete with idyllic lake and of course a sauna.

To plan a shoot in a country you don’t know very well or not at all, is challenging at best but through my wide professional network I found a true wonder woman, Kirsi Parni from Left&Right Productions, who led the street casting and line production providing the models, and organizing the local cast and crew and sorting out last minute problems. Together with location scout Oula Ikonen, they were the perfect team to make our shoot in Finland both a fun experience and a true success. On a busy and hectic schedule, we completed our goals and got the shots that capture and portray Nordea’s local image in Finland perfectly.

Shooting Rabinovich jewelry for the Benelux market

In August I had the pleasure of a trip to Holland, to shoot the new Rabinovich jewelry catalogue for D-Sign Denemarken, who sell and distribute exquisite Danish jewelry to the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg. With a great team from D-Sign Denemarken, with main director Dorte Moesgaard, brand manager Lisette Berendsen and stylist Veronique Lottering, together with a superb location at a historic greenhouse on a renowned organic estate farm, Heerlijkheid Marienwaerdt, it was a true pleasure to create a romantic and dreamy atmosphere that helped me to capture the right shots of the Rabinovich jewelry for their autumn & winter collection. The beautiful Sofia Malm from Diva models helped me show the jewelry with her lovely natural Swedish charm and sophistication. Not only is Sofia a true beauty, she is a real joy to work with. The catalogue has just arrived in the shops in Benelux region and I’m sure it will lead to Rabinovich’s most successful autumn and holiday season sales yet.

Iceland-my love affair

Just returned after a fantastic research photo trip to amazingly Iceland-the land of ice and fire in the cold north. With its unspoiled beauty, mysterious mountains and magic light, I felt deeply in love with this small country in the far north. Luckily enough my love affair has just begun. After this research trip I will return to this fantastic country as soon as possible, and I think it is going to be a fling that will last for many years. Work to be continue…

byStroom launch their own new clothing line – “Mama byStroom”

One of my dearest clients byStroom, that I have had the great opportunity to work with from the very beginning 3 years ago when the company was started. It has been a great pleasure and pure joy to help them create their strong company image profile by coming up with new ideas each season while matching all of byStroom’s new designs and products to maintain consistency and give them extra power in the market.

It all started with byStroom being the first to design and produce trendy computer bags for women! Shortly thereafter, Baby ByStroom followed with trendy baby changing bags – another first on the market.  Now it is so much more fun to be pregnant and a mum with Mama byStroom. The new label has focused in on how to design fashionable pregnancy clothes as well to match their great bags.  The clothing is super functional and practical so you don’t waste money because you can also wear it after you have been giving birth and have to breastfeed.  The clothes will not only keep you really hip and fashionable while you are pregnant, there are many smart little details including the all important ones that make it easy to breastfeed.  Another cool thing about the clothes is that they are great value for money, so why only buy one dress, when you can get 3 dresses for the price of 1 standard pregnancy dress.

So do not despair if you are not pregnant or a mum to a newborn, the clothes easily fit everybody (well at least the women) so you don’t have to pretend to be pregnant to wear the new cool clothes from Mama byStroom.

I wish byStroom all the best of good luck with their new baby ;) and I can’t wait to see what new designs and products will be launched in the future.

The romantic Wild West.

In April I had the pleasure to photograph Anne Maria Munk from Divamodels, for one of my own projects. I have for a long time wanted to create a romantic western series, with lots of nice soft daylight and a dreamy atmosphere. With a spectacular landscape location straight on my own doorstep at a big old estate north of Aarhus, and my own beautiful horse in the stable, it was a true pleasure to shoot in my own backyard with a good team.

Enjoy the Wild West.

Nordea’s new look!

I’m very proud to finally announce new work that has kept me very happily busy.  For over a year I have been involved with creating Nordea Bank’s new images for the entire Scandinavian region and the Baltic countries. Nordea have asked me to help them with building a company image library, and to come up with a new imagery and styles for all their future images for both internal and external corporate branding. Instead of using polished pictures with beautiful models, Nordea wanted to create real stories with real people in their real surroundings. With good help from casting agent Rikke Kjær, we have succeeded in finding the right people to capture and create the true stories and atmosphere in the pictures. Now finally all the pictures have been published in Nordea’s annual report, brochures, marketing collateral, both in print and online, throughout the whole of Scandinavia and the Baltic region.  This project is only just beginning and it will be updated and revised nearly monthly to keep a dynamic image of a bank who’s customers span across many countries.  I am not permitted to provide the full scope of the creative ideas behind the project, but I can promise you that as the many pictures come out in the future I will try to share a few. I´m looking forward to continue this collaboration with the superb Nordea in-house marketing crew who are such good fun to shoot and at the same time effective and professional. See more pictures on my new corporate category on my website.

Alma – the new face of Diva Models

The beautiful Alma has now returned to Denmark after several years working as a model abroad. She is now starting her Danish career for Diva models and she asked me to do some new and up todate pictures of her. Since she is a very classic and sophisticate model type, I wanted to shoot her in a classic black and white style, with nothing else than pure beauty and simplicity.

Anholt – a remote picturesque island.

Not many people are aware of the remote and absolutely beautiful island of Anholt, located in the middle of the ocean between Denmark and Sweden. With only 160 people living there the whole year, 6 km of road and a land mass of only 22 km² in total, the island is one of the smallest and most remote islands in Denmark. It might be the smallest, but also the most beautiful and unique island with the largest dessert in North Europe and the best sandy beaches in Denmark.

I spent a few days there shooting there and have some beautiful new nature shots. The photos will soon be available on Polfoto.
